How much does it cost for a family photography session?

I currently have two family photography packages, including: 

PACKAGE 1 – FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT
For one family unit (7 people maximum) the cost is $450 for a 1-hour session, including all the image post editing time, and a copy of all images (highest resolution) taken on the day presented to you via an online gallery (Pixieset) that you can download from as many images as you like. Travel time is included.

PACKAGE 2 – EXTENDED FAMILY PHOTOSHOOTS
For multiple families, the cost is $650 for a 1.5-hour session and includes all the image post editing time, and a copy of all images (highest resolution) taken on the day presented to you via an online gallery (Pixieset) that you can download from as many images as you like. Travel time is included. This package is perfect for a family reunion holiday or getting together for a milestone birthday. When you complete the online enquiry form (Contact Page), please advise how many people will be attending.

How long will it take to get our images back? 

The link to your entire collection of high-resolution digital images will be emailed to you within 2-3 weeks of your family photo session. These images are optimally processed and are fully processed, watermark-free, and licensed to you, while the copyright remains with Captured by Katherine.

​Do you do extended family sessions? 

​Yes, I do! When you complete your online enquiry form, please advise how many people will be attending the family photo session. Perfect for a family reunion holiday or getting together for a milestone birthday.

​What happens if it rains?

​If the weather isn’t looking good on your booked session date, I will be in touch the day before, and we can make a call together to discuss whether we should go ahead with the session. A reschedule will happen if needed.

Where are you located?

​I am based in Brisbane, Queensland. Most of my outdoor locations are in and around Brisbane. On weekends, I travel regularly to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

Best Locations & Perfect Timing for Your Family Photos

I specialise in capturing heartfelt family moments in stunning outdoor settings, using natural light to create timeless portraits and candid memories.

For the most flattering lighting, I recommend scheduling your session in the early morning or during the golden hour—1 to 2 hours before sunset. These times change throughout the year, and once your session is booked and the location is chosen, I can advise the best time to start our session for the best outcome.

You’re welcome to choose your own location, or i’d be happy to suggest some picturesque spots. There’s no travel fee for locations within 150km of Brisbane, so why not make your photoshoot part of a special day trip or holiday getaway? Many families have chosen breathtaking locations like Byron Bay, Boonah, the Sunshine Coast, or even a beautiful Airbnb, turning their session into an unforgettable experience.

​Do you offer in-home sessions?

​Yes, while I typically prefer outdoor settings for family photo shoots to utilise natural light, I understand that in-home sessions are more appropriate, especially when photographing newborns and babies

What to wear?

Choosing the right outfits can really enhance the experience of the family photoshoot as well as elevate the look of your photographs. Family photoshoots are an investment of time and money, so planning out your family’s outfits is something well worth doing.
